Today the Sun in Aries makes a square to Pluto in Capricorn. In Aries, the Sun is exalted, a place of honor, elevation, and recognition, and while Pluto can intensify all that it touches, it can also drag down the shining brilliance of seeming self-sovereignty. Judith Butler writes, “We can only be dispossessed because we are already dispossessed. Our interdependency establishes our vulnerability to social forms of deprivation.” Pluto reminds us that no matter how accomplished our autonomy may seem, it was always already vulnerable to dispossession. Self-sufficiency was always the repression of interdependency, and this is what Pluto demands that we face. It may also be that the exalted Sun illuminates and reveals that which has been carried off to the underworld, lighting the way for those or that which has been buried to arise, for the dead or forgotten to accost our high places. The Moon in Capricorn makes a sextile to Neptune in Pisces then conjunctions to Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn. Neptune whispers to us through the mist and fog at the edges of ordinary reality, drawing us toward perceptions and inspirations that come to us from beyond the reasonable or rational. Pluto draws us deep beneath the ground of that which is conscious, into the compost of what we could not accept or no longer maintain. Jupiter nourishes the seeds of whatever is planted there, supporting the growth of who we will become from the deterioration of who we were.
